Dr. Richard Kogan is renowned for his spellbinding accounts, in music and commentary, of the life and work of the greatest classical composers. Kogan, an accomplished pianist, studied at Juilliard Pre-College. He graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Medical School and is a trained psychiatrist in private practice in New York City, and the Director of the Human Sexuality Program at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weill-Cornell Medical School.
Kogan has merged his professional pursuits by giving lectures and performances all over the world that explore the psychiatric
factors affecting the musical compositions of some of the world’s
most important composers ... from Robert Schumann to Gershwin.
Dr. Kogan will play excerpts of Gershwin’s beloved Rhapsody in
Blue and Porgy and Bess and will describe how Gershwin’s psyche
influenced these popular compositions.
